How to Enter the Writing Contest

Write a letter to a particular person who has greatly inspired you, just as the main character in Dear Martin writes letters to Martin Luther King, Jr. (1 page minimum - 4 page maximum.) Click Here for Complete Contest Rules!

Submissions: due March 25 by 8:00 PM to Lafayette Public Library or online at: LAF@ccclib.org

Monday, February 25: Kick off! Pick up a copy of Dear Martin at your school library or a Lamorinda public library. “Dear Hero” writing contest begins. (See box above for details)

Tuesday, March 5:  6:30-8:00 PM - Moraga Library, Community Room Panel Discussion: A Race to Racial Harmony Led by Patrick Turner

Wednesday, March 13: 4:00-5:30 PM - Orinda Library, Garden Room Workshop: Conversations about Racial Harm & Healing  Led by Circles for Social Change

Monday, March 25:  “Dear Hero” writing contest deadline. Send submissions by 8:00 PM to Lafayette Public Library or online at: LAF@ccclib.org

Thursday, April 11:  5:30 -7:00 PM - Lafayette Library Film screening & “Dear Hero” writing contest finalists read their entries
